SCCC MOVES INTO SECOND PLACE WITH WIN OVER DODGE CITY
After losing in Dodge City a month ago, the Saints had nothing but revenge on the minds Saturday night against Dodge City Community College. The Saints (17-6, 6-3 in the Jayhawk West Conference) got what they were looking for by defeating Dodge City C.C. 88-85 in the Green House.
With the win over Dodge City, the Saints (17-6, 6-3) move into second place in the Jayhawk West Conference, with a 6-3 record. Pratt Community College is also 6-3 in conference play, but Seward has the tie-breaker with a victory over the Beavers (95-89) back on January 12.

Freshman, Adam Tanner provided plenty of strength on the inside against DCCC. Tanner scored 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and was 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. Freshman post Davone Allen did the most with his opportunities Saturday night, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.
Sophomore, Kyle Smith continued his sharp shooting from three-point range going 5-for-8 from three-point range and 6-for-10 from the field for 20 points. Sophomore, shooting guard Keoni Watson was productive scoring 17 points with nine assist and three steals.
Seward County had only nine players available Saturday night as sophomore forward Brian McCarther had a family funeral to attend and sophomore post-player Calvin Gabel injured his ankle. McCarther will be back with the Saints for Wednesday’s game at Butler, but Gabel’s status for Wednesday is doubtful.
The Saints will play next Wednesday, February 9, at Butler Community College. The Saints defeated Butler 84-72 at home in both teams first conference game this season. Butler is currently in ninth-place in the Jayhawk West with a 2-7 conference record.
You can hear the game at Butler called live by KSCB Sports Anchor, Brock Kappelmann, by listening to 107 KSCB or by going to www.kscb.net and clicking on KSCB Listen Live. Game time for Wednesday’s contest will be 8:00 p.m.
