Kyle Smith

Smith will join a Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) team that finished third in the Heartland Conference in 2004-05 and made the programs first ever appearance in Heartland Conference Post-Season Tournament. OPSU finished 9-19 overall and 6-6 in conference.
Smith was the Saints starting point guard for two seasons at
Seward
County
and helped lead the Saints to a 23-9 overall record and a second place finish in the Jayhawk West Conference.
In 2004-05, Smith started 31-of-32 games, averaging 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Smith a 5’7” sophomore this past season from
Wichita
finished his career at
Seward
County
as one of the top three-point shooters in school history. Smith knocked down 84 three point field goals (84-for-231) in his two-year career as a Saint, ranking him 9th all-time in SCCC men’s basketball history. Smith was also the Saints top free-throw shooter this past season shooting .833 % (80-for-96).
OPSU first year head coach Kurt Connor said he is excited to have Smith come aboard next season.
“Kyle is going to be an impact player for us next season,” Connor said. “It’s great for our program to sign one of the top 20 players in the Jayhawk Conference.”
Also in 2005, Smith was named Jayhawk West Honorable Mention All-Conference. Smith was one of only nine guards to be named All-Conference in the Jayhawk West.
