SAINTS BASKETBALL RANKED 6TH IN JAYHAWK PRE-SEASON POLL
The Seward County Saints basketball team has been ranked 6th in the Jayhawk West Conference pre-season poll. The pre-season poll was announced Tuesday by Jayhawk Conference officials. The pre-season poll was voted on by Jayhawk Conference head coaches.

Coming into last season the Saints basketball program had success in each season of head coach Dave Brown’s coaching tenure. From 1998-2003 Brown’s teams had been ranked in the NJCAA Top Twenty poll each season. In 2004, the Saints finished the season 9-21 and failed to make the Top 20 for the first time since 1997.

The Saints are returning sophomore guard, Keoni Watson. The 5’10” San Diego native finished 2003-04 ranked fifth in the Jayhawk West in scoring, Watson averaged 19.4 points/game. Watson was also ranked seventh in the Jayhawk West in steals averaging just over two steals per contest.

SCCC Saints open their season Thursday, November 4, as they will host the Pepsi Classic, in Liberal. The Saints open up against Southern Nazarene University J.V. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Green House.
