SAINTS GAME AGAINST DODGE CITY CANCELLED
Due to weather, the Seward County men’s and women’s basketball teams will not be traveling to Dodge City for their first Jayhawk West Conference games of the season.

The game for both the Saints and Lady Saints will be made up on Monday, January 10, at Dodge City.

The Saints (11-3) have not been in action since they hosted the Pizza Hut Classic back on the 10th and 11th of December. The Saints played well in the Pizza Hut Classic defeating Newman University J.V. 89-64 and then upset No. 19 Frank Phillips 95-88 in the Classic’s finale.

The Saints leading scorer this season is Keoni Watson. Watson is averaging 18.9 points per game (ppg), ranking him second in the Jayhawk Conference behind Garden City’s Torre Johnson (22.5 ppg.). The Saints also have freshman Davone Allen who is currently ranked fourth in the conference in blocks, averaging 1.21 blocks per game.

The Saints are currently tied for first place in the Jayhawk West Conference with Butler College. Butler and Seward are both 11-3 overall and no team has yet to play a conference opponent.

The Lady Saints are coming off an impressive tournament championship in Las Vegas a week ago. The Lady Saints (14-0, No. 3 in the NJCAA) continue to dominate their opponents as they are scoring an average of 86.8 points per game and allowing their opponents only 44.3 points per game.

The Lady Saints also have Whitney Pegram, who is averaging 17.3 ppg. (fourth in the Jayhawk Conference) and 6.6 rebounds per game (rpg). The Lady Saints have also seen production from many other players such as Amanda Foster (13 ppg, 7.2 rpg), Deolinda Ngulela (7.4 ppg, 6.6 assists per game, 3.5 steals per game), Ewelina Gad (9 ppg, 4 rpg), Flavia Azinheira (9.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Amanda McCue (9.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4 assists per game and 1.8 steals per game).

The Lady Saints are currently in first place in the Jayhawk West. The Lady Saints along with Hutchinson (12-0) are the only teams still unbeaten in the Jayhawk Conference.
