SAINTS IMPROVE UNDEFEATED RECORD TO 5-0
The Seward County Saints went undefeated for the second straight weekend as they went 2-0 in the Dodge City Classic, defeating Sterling College 100-73 and Tabor College 105-40.

Against Sterling College, Seward County stayed consistent for the complete 40 minutes shooting .518 from the field (43-for-83) and collecting 51 team rebounds. The Saints saw an offensive onslaught from their three sharp shooters, sophomore Keoni Watson, freshman Raynard Sawyer and sophomore Brian McCarther.

Watson, the 5’10” San Diego, California native was 5-for-8 from the field scoring 15 points and dishing out three assists in 21 minutes of play. Sterling College didn’t find a way to contain Sawyer as he scored a team-high 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including three steals, two rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot. Sawyer is averaging 14.4 points per game (ppg) this season. Swingman Brian McCarther was 8-for-10 from the field, scoring 18 points and also had five rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. The Saints totaled 14 steals versus Sterling’s four.

On Saturday the Saints came out and never let Tabor College in the game. Seward County shot .623 from the field (43-for-69) and out rebounded Tabor 52-25. The Saints were led by freshman point guard Jerrell Green. The 6’0” freshman from Baltimore, Maryland, was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 3-for-4 from the field, scoring 13 points on the night. Green also had seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes of play.

Watson was back in action Saturday, scoring 12 points and chipping in four assists. Six SCCC players were in double digits against Tabor including freshman Robert Townsend (11), Sawyer (13), freshman Davone Allen (10) and freshman big man Preston Sims (12).

The Saints will return home this weekend to host the Wendy’s Classic. They will play Friday against Brown Mackie at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday the Saints will welcome Clarendon College to the Green House for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off. Tickets for the Wendy’s Classic will be available all week at Wendy’s for FREE!
