KYLE SMITH LEADS SEWARD COUNTY IN VICTORY OVER PRATT
Sophomore point guard Kyle Smith led the Seward County Saints last night as they defeated Pratt Community College 95-89 on the road in the Beaver Dome.

Seward County (13-4, 2-1 in the Jayhawk West) improves to 2-1 in the Jayhawk West, placing them in second place behind the 3-0 Garden City Broncbusters. Pratt (9-8, 2-1 in the Jayhawk Conference) falls to 2-1 in the Jayhawk West which places them a half game behind the Saints.

Smith, the team's point guard and one of the team's leaders is averaging 4.9 points per game this season, but last night Smith went above and beyond his season average. Smith was on fire last night as he torched Pratt for 26 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, 5-for-8 from three-point land and was also 5-for-8 from the charity stripe. Smith was the complete package Wednesday night as the 5'7" guard had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and committed no turnovers. Smith's 26 points Wednesday night is a career high.
The Saints got big time production from post players Adam Tanner and Preston Sims. Tanner, the 6'8" freshman, who has already committed to the University of San Diego for next season scored 14 points, two rebounds and two steals for the Saints. Sims, a 6'6" forward has been impressive lately and didn't disappoint last night scoring 13 points and cleaned the glass for eight rebounds.
The Saints win over Pratt came four days after Pratt beat Hutchinson Community College, the defending Jayhawk West Conference champions from 2004.
The Saints return to the Green House Saturday night as they host Colby Community College (10-6, 1-2 in the Jayhawk West) at 8:00 p.m. Colby was on the losing end last night as they fell to Barton County 83-61 in Great Bend.
Head Coach Dave Brown won his 198th game as head coach at Seward County last night. With two more wins Coach Brown will join former Saints head Coach Dale Reed as the only Men's head coaches in SCCC history to reach 200 career coaching wins. Coach Reed coached the Saints from 1983-1996 and had an overall coaching record of 224-168.
