SAINTS LOSING STREAK CONTINUES WITH LOSS AT COLBY
The Seward County Community College men's basketball team started the season 15-0 during non-conference play. The No. 5 Saints (15-3, 1-3) began their 2006 Conference season with a win at home against Dodge City, but since then the Saints have dropped three straight games including last nights, 88-86 loss against the Colby Trojans. Colby has now defeated
Barton
County
(14-3) and the Saints in back-to-back conference games.

The Saints did have impressive offensive statistics against the Trojans with five players reaching double figures in scoring including, Adam Tanner (19 points), Brandon Cornwell (16 points), Keith Spencer (16 points), Michael Tyree (13 points) and Jerrell Green (11 points).
The Saints shot the basketball well making 57 percent of their field goals (32-for-56) and shooting 15-for-19 (79 %) from the free-throw line.
Colby was led by their two guards, Hellion Knight (27 points) and Nate Bowie (25 points) the leading scorer in the Region VI. Knight and Bowie combined shot 18-for-31 from the field, 4-for-9 from three point range and 12-for-15 from the free-throw line.
Both the Saints and Trojans were deadly from three-point range, as the Saints shot 47 percent (7-for-15) and the Trojans hit 46 percent (6-for-13) from beyond the three-point line.
In addition, the No. 8 Saints committed 13 turnovers while Colby committed just seven.
The Saints will be back on the road this Wednesday, Jan. 18 traveling to Concordia, to play
Cloud
County
Community College
(12-5, 2-2). The Thunderbirds are coming off a 10 point loss at
Hutchinson
(70-60) this past Saturday. Tip-off on Wednesday night will be at 8:00 p.m.
