SAINTS BOUNCE BACK WITH WIN OVER GARDEN CITY
DAVE BROWN TIES SCCC ALL-TIME COACHING CAREER WINS MARK
If there ever was a time the

Community College
men’s basketball team needed a win, Saturday night was the time. The Saints (16-4, 2-4) entered their home court Saturday night on a four-game losing streak which dropped the previous No. 3 Saints from the NJCAA Top 20 poll for the first time this season.

Dave Brown
won his 224th career game Saturday night, which has tied him for the college’s all-time head coaching wins record with former Saints Head Coach Dale Reed. Brown began his coaching career at SCCC as an assistant coach under Reed in 1992.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead against the Broncbusters and never looked back. Garden City did make a run at the Saints towards the end of the second half cutting the lead to four points with only a few minutes remaining.

took care of the basketball and made their free-throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach. Garden City committed 32 personal fouls including three technical fouls which were handed out in the second-half.
The Saints went to the free-throw line 48 times Saturday night and shot 63 percent (30-for-48).
SCCC was led by Adam Tanner (3-for-5 field goals, 9-for-13 free-throws) who scored 15 points for the Saints. Tanner added 10 rebounds collecting his seventh double-double (15 points and 10 rebounds) this season. Tanner, a NJCAA Pre-Season Honorable Mention All-American, totaled just two double-double’s all of last season.
Jerrell Green (4-for-8 field goals, 8-for-12) scored 17 and Saints small forward, Theron Wilson chipped in 17 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and hit 8-of-12 free-throws.
Seward had their hands full with GCCC sophomore, Roy Bright, as the Region VI star scored 25 points (8-for-21) with a team-high 10 rebounds. Bright has averaged 21.4 points per game this year in five Broncbuster losses. This season, Bright ranks fourth in the Region VI averaging 20.4 points per game.

Hutchinson
on Wednesday, Jan. 25 to take on the Blue Dragons (11-7, 3-2) at 8:00 p.m. at the Sports Arena.
