SEWARD COUNTY SAINTS AT. HUTCHINSON BLUE DRAGONS

The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team will travel to Hutchinson on Wednesday, January 25, taking on Hutchinson Community College at 8:00 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The Saints (16-4, 2-4) are coming off a victory over Garden City, 80-68 and the Blue Dragons (11-7, 3-2) also won Saturday night at Barton County, 89-80.

Seward County Head Coach, Dave Brown , will become the college’s all-time head coaching wins leader with the next SCCC win. Brown has an overall head coaching record of 224-91 (.711) in ten years as head coach for the Saints. Brown is currently tied with former Saints Head Coach, Dale Reed for the all-time record.

The Saints looked strong in front of a packed home crowd this past Saturday night in their win at home against Garden City. Jerrell Green (17 points/six assists) and Theron Wilson (17 points/eight rebounds) led the Saints in scoring against the Broncbusters. Seward pulled away in the final minute of the game as they hit eight consecutive free-throws to defeat the defending Jayhawk West Conference champions.

The Blue Dragons are on a roll winning three-consecutive games against Cloud County (70-60), Colby (71-69) and Barton County . Hutchinson ’s leading scorer, Stephen DuCharme (14.6 ppg.) scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in their win on the road at Barton County .

In Hutchinson ’s three-game winning streak they have averaged 46.7 rebounds per game, four rebounds over their season average. Additional, Hutchinson is leading the Region VI in offensive rebounds during conference games this season (19.0 offensive rebounds per game).
