SAINTS FINISH PEPSI CLASSIC ON TOP WITH 3-0 RECORD
The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team went 3-0 in the opening weekend Pepsi Classic hosted by the Saints at the Green House. The Saints finished the final two day classic with wins over Labette C.C. (Friday) and Lamar C.C. (Saturday). The Saints (3-0, 0-0) defeated Labette 110-61 and then cruised by Lamar 75-57.
The Saints came out on fire against Labette and didn’t hold back during the 40 minutes of regulation.

made 43 field goals, six three-point buckets and 18 free-throws in route to their 49 point victory. There wasn’t any Saints player who played more than 19 minutes and played less than seven minutes.

SCCC was led by Adam Tanner (16 points & six rebounds), Carlin Whitten (15 points & 10 rebounds), Michael Tyree (17 points, three rebounds & three steals, two assists) and Hank Harris (14 points & three rebounds). The Saints shot 51 % from the field and out rebounded Labette 71-35.
Saturday night proved to be more of the same from
Seward
County
. The Saints played tough defense on the perimeter forcing 23 Lamar turnovers and grabbing 10 steals. Although the Saints got out rebounded (45-36), they were able to hold Lamar to a 35 % shooting night.

was led all weekend by point guard Jerrell Green. The 5’10” sophomore from
Baltimore
,
Md.
, is the Saints team leader by directing Saints players to where they need to be on the court and by penetrating the opponents’ defense and passing to open players creating high percentage shots for all of his teammates. Although Green may not be the teams leading scorer, he does lead the Saints in three categories that are very important to Head Coach Dave Brown, minutes played (25.3 per game), assists (14) and steals (six).

The Saints were led in scoring against Lamar by Adam Tanner (8-for-12 shooting, 21 points & eight rebounds), Keith Spencer (9-for-12 shooting, 18 points, eight rebounds & three steals) and Theron Wilson (12 points & eight rebounds).
The Saints put on a show this past weekend with a pressure defense that lasts 40-minutes of the game, depth that showcases premier athletes and high flying dunks that will get any fan out of their seats.
The Saints will travel to
Salina
next Friday, Nov. 11, taking on the defending NJCAA Division II National Champion Brown Mackie Lions at
7:30
. The Saints will also play Kansas Wesleyan in
Salina
on Saturday, at
