SPENCER AND THE SAINTS DOMINATE FORT SCOTT, 84-65

Saints sophomore power forward, Keith Spencer, led the No. 9 Seward County Community College men’s basketball team with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 84-65 win over
Fort
Scott
Community College
, in the second day of the Jayhawk Shootout in
Coffeyville
. The Saints (12-0) had no trouble with the Greyhounds as SCCC shot 46 % from the field, 40 % from three-point range and 84 % from the free-throw line.
In Seward County’s most complete effort overall as a team this season, the undefeated Saints had four players in double figures in scoring and seven players who scored at least four points in their ninth game this season where they have defeated their opponent by 10 or more points.

Spencer, who resembles a human spring board, has been all over the glass this season for the Saints averaging 9.8 rebounds per game. Spencer led all players in the two-day Shootout in offensive rebounds (5.5 per game) and total rebounds (9.5 per game) as he grabbed 19 boards in the Saints two games in
Coffeyville
.
Saints pre-season All-American and leading scorer this season, Adam Tanner, scored 17 points (7-for-11 field goals) with eight rebounds, five assists and two three-point buckets. Tanner is now averaging 14.3 points per game this season.
Theron Wilson, who led the Saints in scoring on Friday morning (19 points), scored 15 points (5-for-12 field goals) with six rebounds and one assist.
Wilson
is the only freshman on the Saints who has started in all 12 games this season. Additionally,
Wilson
is one of four players for the Saints who have at least 18 steals this season.
Saints guard, Brandon Cornwell, a 6’2” sophomore who averaged just over two points per game last season is having a standout season for the Saints in 2005-2006. Against
Fort
Scott
, Cornwell scored 13 points with six assists and two steals, raising his scoring average to 9.1 ppg. In only 12 games this season, Cornwell has scored 109 points while last season in 27 games, Cornwell scored 56 points in 10.1 minutes played per game.
The No. 9 Saints will be back at the Green House next weekend hosting the Pizza Hut Classic, Dec. 9-10. The Saints will take on

University
on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and will then play

on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.
