SAINTS MOVE TO NO. 3 IN NJCAA POLL

In the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) men’s basketball Top 20 poll, the Seward County Community College Saints have moved up three spots to No. 3 in the nation. The Saints finished their non-conference schedule with a perfect 14-0 overall record. The last time the Saints were ranked in the Top 5 of the country was when the Saints received a No. 4 ranking on Jan. 28, 2003, when they had an overall record of 20-2.
The Saints have been ranked in all five polls this season with rankings of No. 25, No. 15, No. 9, No. 6 and now No. 3.

defeated Frank Phillips 76-74, on a game-winning three-point basketball from freshman guard, Michael Tyree.

has the top ranked scoring offense in the Region VI averaging 90.1 points per game. Head Coach,
Dave Brown
, has four players this year that are averaging over 11 points per game. Leading scorers for the Saints this season are Adam Tanner (15.1 ppg.), Keith Spencer (12.7 ppg.), Theron Wilson (12.6 ppg.) and Jerrell Green (11.3 ppg.). Additionally, the Saints bench is averaging 30.8 ppg.
The Saints are joined by

Community College
(13-0) as the only unbeaten teams in the 19-school Region VI.
Independence
received their highest ranking this season with a No. 9 national ranking in this weeks poll.
NOTES:
The defending Jayhawk West Conference Champions, Garden City Community College, finished their non-conference schedule with a 11-2 overall record under first-year head coach Brian Marso, who coached his first season in the Jayhawk West conference last season at Colby C.C.

Dodge City Community College, the Saints first conference opponent (Jan. 4), is currently 10-4 after finishing their non-conference schedule this past weekend at the Pizza Hut Classic in Liberal.
