GETS BLOWN OUT AT HOME AGAINST GARDEN CITY

The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team suffered their worst loss this season in a 64-43 loss at home against Garden City Community College on Wednesday night at the Green House. Seward was held scoreless during the opening three minutes of the game, and the SCCC offense was never able to recover as Garden City held the Saints to 25 percent shooting for the game, and a miniscule 13 percent shooting (4-for-30) from three-point territory. It was the lowest Saints point total in their last 101 games, dating back to a non-conference 60-40 loss at
Cowley
County
Community College
in 2003.
Seward
County
drops to 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the Jayhawk West Conference. Garden City improves to 4-15 overall and 4-2 in conference competition.

was back on the sidelines for the Saints for the first time since serving a four-game suspension. Dale Reed coached the Saints during their opening four games of the Jayhawk West Conference schedule, where they posted a 2-2 overall record.
The Saints trailed the entire game with Garden City grabbing an early 16-6 lead with 10:24 off the clock in the first-half. Garden City pushed their lead to double-figures for most of the first-half while holding

to 25 percent shooting. Garden City finished the first-half with a 32-20 lead at halftime.

Garden City took control once again in the second-half as sophomore Yima Chia-Kur and Julian Allen combined for 12 early second-half points. The Garden City lead reached 20 points with 8:09 remaining in the game, and the Saints showed no signs of a possible comeback.
Allen led the Broncbusters in scoring with 24 points and Chia-Kur finished the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

County
was led in scoring by Theron Wilson (15 points and 13 rebounds) and Michael Tyree (10 points, 3-for-13 3pt field goals). Freshman post player Ervin Williams scored all of his seven points during a first-half run by the Saints. Williams finished the game with four rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
The Saints will host

(14-5, 2-3) for an 8 p.m. conference match-up on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Green House.
