For the second time this season, the National Junior College Athletic Association has named
Seward
County
Community College
men’s basketball player, Theron Wilson, the National Player of the Week. The 6-foot-5-inch sophomore forward from
Topeka
,
Kan.
, was named Co-National Player of the Week for Jan. 21-27, along with Sammy Ricks, from
North Dakota
State
.
Wilson
was also named NJCAA Player of the Week on Nov. 29 earlier this season.
Wilson
becomes the second student-athlete ever from SCCC to be named NJCAA Player of the Week twice in one season. Earlier this year SCCC women’s basketball player Tegan Cunningham received National Player of the Week honors twice.
Wilson
posted two double-double performances last week with 15 points and 13 rebounds against Garden City C.C., and 17 points and 10 rebounds against Cloud County C.C. Wilson led
Seward
County
to a 1-1 week, with a 65-61 victory at home against
Cloud
County
and a 64-43 loss at home against Garden City.
Wilson
is currently leading the NJCAA Region VI in scoring (21.6 points per game) and is leading the nation in free throws made (153).
Wilson
also ranks among league leaders in rebounding (11.3 rpg.), steals (2.6 spg.) and blocked shots (1.9 bpg.).
In his career at

County

Wilson
has scored in double-figures 42 times, and posted double-figures in rebounding 16 times. Last night at Colby C.C.,
Wilson
tallied his 16th career double-double with 20 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
