COMPLETE GAME NOTES

February 6, 2007

Seward County is riding an up-and-down Jayhawk West Conference season losing on Saturday night at home against Dodge City 68-61, on Homecoming night at the Green House. The Saints and Conqs went into halftime with the score 27-27, after Seward County shot 35 percent and Dodge City hitting 46 percent from the field. Dodge City opened the second-half on a 19-5 run and shot 58 percent in the final period to win their sixth conference game.

The biggest blow for the Saints in the Dodge City game was when Saints freshman Ervin Williams received an intentional foul and was ejected from the game, after fouling Dodge City forward Charlie Coley on an uncontested dunk with less than a minute remaining in the game. Williams, the Saints leading scorer on Saturday night with 17 points and eight rebounds, will sit out his one-game suspension for his ejection on Wednesday night against the Blue Dragons.

The Blue Dragons received their worst loss this season in their last game against Cloud County, 75-50, on Jan. 31 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. Hutchinson made only 12 field goals and shot 25 percent in the loss, which marks the Blue Dragons fourth loss in their last five games. Hutchinson was led by sophomore Nate Brumfield, who scored a team-high 11 points and shot 7-for-12 from the free-throw line. Cloud County out-rebounded Hutchinson 46-31. The Blue Dragons did not play on Saturday night.

Since 2000-2001, Seward County leads the head-to-head series 8-6 overall. The Blue Dragons hold an overall series record of 33-5 against the Saints at the Sports Arena. Dave Brown has been head coach for the Saints in three of their five victories (1998, 2001 & 2005). Hutchinson leads the overall series with the Saints 60-21.
