SAINTS DEFEAT NO. 11 BARTON COUNTY AT THE GREEN HOUSE
The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team protected their home court with a 79-71 victory over No. 11 Barton County Community College on Wednesday night at the Green House. The Saints, who haven’t lost three straight games all year, dominated the nationally-ranked Cougars in the first-half and used 14 points combined from reserves Darko Cohadarevic and Ervin Williams, who each made their way back to the Saints line-up on Wednesday night. It was the second nationally-ranked opponent the Saints have defeated at home during the conference schedule this season (defeated No. 19 Hutchinson on Jan. 6 at the Green House).
Seward
County
improves to 14-10 overall and 5-6 in the Jayhawk West.
Barton
County
drops their fourth consecutive game and falls to 21-5 overall and 7-5 in the Jayhawk West Conference.
The win gives Saints head coach
Dave Brown
his 250th career head coaching victory. Last season, Brown also picked up a milestone victory at home against
Barton
County
, with a 72-57 victory over the Cougars making Brown the all-time wins leader at Seward County C.C.

Cohadarevic played his first game since an injury sidelined him on Jan. 27, and Williams was back on the floor after serving a one-game suspension for an ejection he received on Feb. 3 at home against
Dodge City
. Both Cohadarevic and Williams played key roles for the Saints on Wednesday night.

dominated the Cougars, trailing only twice during the entire game after
Barton
County
grabbed two early leads in the opening five minutes of play. The Saints went on a late run in the first-half to gain their largest lead of the game 44-24, just before intermission. SCCC grabbed a 44-27 lead at halftime, and were led in the opening period by
Hank Harris
who scored 12 points.
Barton
County
flirted with a comeback cutting the Saints lead to six points on six separate occasions in the second-half, but was never able to make the contest a one possession game.
Harris scored a career-high 15 points, and guard Michael Tyree led the Saints in scoring with 16 points and five steals. Theron Wilson posted his seventh consecutive double-double in conference play with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Wilson
also helped the Saints cause by shooting 8-for-12 from the charity stripe.
Barton
County
was led by Ivan Evans (18 points and 10 rebounds) and Thiago Cordeiro (10 points, four rebounds and three blocks) who was limited in minutes due to foul trouble throughout the game. The Cougars leading scorer this season, Omar Johnson (18.0 ppg.), was held to 10 points and scored only two of his points in the first-half.
The Saints will be on the road for their next three games starting on Saturday, Feb. 17, at
