, to play two games in the Pratt Thanksgiving Classic against

Lamar
Community College
. The Saints will take on Jayhawk East Cowley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night and will battle Lamar C.C. on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Seward County has opened the season 5-1 overall, with all six games being played at the Green House in Liberal.
Seward
County
begins the season as one of six teams in the Jayhawk West who have lost one game or who are undefeated. The Saints are led by Theron Wilson, who enters the week as the leading scorer in the 19-team NJCAA Region VI, averaging 25.8 points per game.
Wilson
is also the 12th leading scorer in the nation this season, scoring 151 points in six games.

sophomore, Michael Tyree, became the all-time SCCC men’s basketball leader for three-point field goals in a single-game hitting eight three-point field goals in the Saints 114-83 victory over Clarendon last Saturday night. Tyree this season is averaging 18.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.Tyree is 25-of-59 (.424) from long range this campaign.
Traditionally the Saints have had no trouble with Newman University J.V. posting three wins by an average of 34.3 points per game over the last two seasons. The Saints are 9-0 against four-year junior varsity programs since 2004-2005.
Cowley
College
is currently 4-2 overall this season. The Tigers have posted wins over Southwestern College J.V.,
Northern
Oklahoma
College
, Seminole State College and Friends University J.V. Northern
Oklahoma
and
Seminole
State
are the only two programs to defeat Cowley this season.
The Tigers are led this season by Santwon Latunde (14.7 ppg and 9.5 rpg.) and Sanijay Watts (14.0 ppg. and 5.8 rpg.). Sophomore guard, James Loe, scored a team-high 26 points in the Tigers victory over
Northern Oklahoma
on Nov. 7.
Lamar
Community College
has opened the season strong with a 6-1 overall record. The Lopes only loss this season was a one-point defeat against Western Nebraska C.C. (73-72) in the McCook C.C. Classic. Lamar’s top player, sophomore Brandon Johnson, is averaging 21 points and six rebounds per game this season. Johnson signed early this season with NCAA Division I Long Beach State University. Johnson has been tabbed the 29th best junior college player in the nation by JucoJunction.com. The NJCAA also picked Johnson as one of the top returning players in the Region IX this season.
Last season, the Saints defeated Lamar twice in non-conference play, including a 75-57 victory in Liberal and a narrow 65-62 win at the Dodge City Tournament.
