November 25, 2006 TYREE SHOOTS LIGHTS OUT, SAINTS DEFEAT STERLING BY 44 POINTS The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team completed a perfect 3-0 week on the road, with a dominating 95-51 victory over Sterling College J.V. on Saturday night at the Pratt Thanksgiving Classic. Seward County was led by sophomore shooting guard, Michael Tyree, who scored 25 points and was unstoppable shooting the basketball. The Saints finish the week with three non-conference road wins over Newman University J.V., Cowley College and Saturday night’s win against Sterling College J.V. SCCC improves to 8-1 overall this season. Michael Tyree Darko Cohadarevic The Saints posted their fifth consecutive game posting at least 50 rebounds, while out-rebounding Sterling College 51-to-24. Seward was impressive shooting the basketball at a 58 percent clip from the floor. Tyree continues his monster season shooting the basketball connecting on 9-of-13 from the floor, and 5-of-8 from long range to give him a game-high 25 points with three assists, two rebounds and a steal. Tyree is now averaging 20.2 points this season, and is leading the Saints from long range shooting 44 percent from three-point range (34-for-78). Tyree has recorded three or more 3’s this season in six different games. The Saints were also led by Theron Wilson, who completed his sixth consecutive double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Over his last six games, Wilson is averaging 26.5 points and 14.8 rebounds per game. Freshman, Darko Cohadarevic (15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks) and sophomore Hank Harris (11 points, four assists and four rebounds) also recorded double-figures in scoring. The Warriors were led by Noah Breeden, who scored 15 points with eight rebounds. The Warriors shot 24 percent from the floor in the first-half, but improved drastically in the second stanza shooting 46 percent (10-for-22). Seward County will prepare for the Jayhawk Shootout next weekend in Coffeyville , Kan. , where they will play nationally-ranked Coffeyville Community College on Friday night at 7 p.m. and against Labette Community College on Sunday at 9 a.m.
