SEWARD DROPS GAME TO NO. 11 RED RAVENS IN JAYHAWK SHOOTOUT
The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team lost their opening game at the Jayhawk Shootout to No. 11 Coffeyville Community College 82-62. The Red Ravens controlled the game on their home court from the opening tip-off as the Saints drop to 8-2 overall this season.

(8-1 overall) ran off to an early 12-0 lead before the Saints collected their first points of the game.

’s victory earned head coach Jay Herkelman his 300th career victory in his tenure at Coffeyville C.C.
After falling behind after the opening tip, the Saints fought back into the game trailing 31-25, with five minutes remaining in the first-half.

used a 19-9 run to close the half to lead the Saints 50-34 at halftime. SCCC shot 34 percent from the field while

was hot from the floor shooting 57 percent in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Saints forward Theron Wilson was the Saints leader going into halftime with 18 points and four rebounds.

The second-half was similar to the first with

controlling the momentum of the game. The Saints only committed nine turnovers, but the Red Ravens owned the boards out-rebounding the Saints 50-35.

, the Region VI’s leading scorer led all players scoring 25 points and grabbed a game-best 17 rebounds. Sophomores, Michael Tyree (15 points and three 3-pointers) and Hank Harris (11 points and three assists) also performed well for

The Red Ravens pick up the home court win with Brandon Kennedy leading the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Eberhardt also pitched in 20 points with eight rebounds and two steals.

, who has won four of the last five NJCAA Region VI Tournament championships shot 48 percent from the field (32-for-67) and hit 85 percent of their free-throws (11-for-13) to pick up their eighth win of the season.
