Seward County jumped out to an eight point lead, 17-9, after making three 3-pointers with 13:54 left in the first half. SCCC then posted its largest lead, 24-15, on Reggie Chamberlain’s fourth 3-pointer in the opening eight minutes of play. Chamberlain, the Saints’ freshman point guard from Kansas City, Mo., made five 3-pointers in the first half and scored 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
The tide then turned quickly midway through the first half in favor of the Cougars. BCCC sophomore Antowine Lamb made a jump shot, Chris Jackson knocked down two free throws, Qa’rraan Calhoun added two free throws due to a non-personal technical foul, and Javon Parris made a three-pointer during a two minute span that tied the score at 24.

Barton County finished the half with a two point lead, 45-43, after a Calhoun field goal before the break. The Saints did shot 7-of-16 from long range and were led by Chamberlain (17 points) and Ervin Williams (11 points, seven rebounds) at halftime.
The second half was all Cougars as they began the period on an 11-0 run. The Saints recorded just three points (Donald Dixon 3-pointer) in the first 10 minutes of play after halftime.
Barton County overmatched the Saints in the second half shooting 63 percent (15-of-24) from the field and holding the Saints to 17 percent shooting (4-of-24) from the floor. The Cougars finished the game out-rebounding the Saints 46-31.
Chamberlain finished with 20 points, Williams collected 15 points and eight rebounds, and Nick Burns collected seven points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Calhoun led the way for Barton County with 22 points and 11 rebounds, marking his third double-double of the season. Jackson (14 points, seven rebounds), Parris (12 points, five rebounds) and Nyika Williams (10 points, five rebounds) all finished in double-figure scoring.
The Saints will begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday, Jan. 16, traveling to play Butler Community College (5-11, 0-3) at 8 p.m. in El Dorado, Kan., at the Power Plant.
