SAINTS POST SEVENTH WIN OF SEASON, DEFEAT FRIENDS J.V.
By no means was it the prettiest win of the season for the Seward County Community College men’s basketball team, but they were still able to come away with the non-conference road victory. The Saints went on the road and defeated Friends University J.V. 64-50 on Tuesday evening in Wichita. Seward County picks up its 29th consecutive victory over a four-year junior varsity program with the 14 point victory, as freshman point guard Reggie Chamberlain led the way with 14 points. The Saints improve to 7-1 overall on the season, and record their third straight non-conference victory this season.
Seward County jumped out to a 20 point advantage in the first half, but posted only a 34-24 lead at halftime. The Saints were vulnerable at the free throw line all game shooting 7-of-18 in the first half and hitting 15-of-29 for the contest. Seward County also committed 24 turnovers.
The Saints controlled the game in the second half and led by 22 points (61-39) with 4:28 to play for their largest lead of the game. Friends University J.V. finished the games on an 11-3 run taking advantage of the Saints using the majority of their roster late in the game.
Seward County sophomore Darko Cohadarevic posted 11 points and sophomore guard Donald Dixon added seven points in the victory.
The Saints will open play this weekend at the Pratt Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, Nov. 23, against Neosho County Community College at 6 p.m. Then on Saturday, Nov. 24, Seward County will finish play at the Beaver Dome with a 5 p.m. match-up against North Lake College.
