SAINTS DOMINATE NEOSHO COUNTY IN PRATT CLASSIC
From the opening tip, the Seward County Community College men’s basketball team dominated Neosho County Community College in a non-conference, 83-64, victory on Friday night at the Pratt Thanksgiving Classic at the Beaver Dome in Pratt. Seward County sophomore Ervin Williams led SCCC with his second career double-double (20 points and 10 rebounds) in the Saints’ second non-conference victory this week. Seward County shot an impressive 54 percent (28-for-52) from the field while improving to 8-1 overall this season. Neosho County loses its third straight non-conference game and drops to 3-3 overall this season.

Seward County jumped out to a 14-0 lead and was ahead by as many as 26 points in the first half. At intermission, the Saints posted a 44-25 lead. SCCC freshman point guard Reggie Chamberlain led the charge at halftime scoring 13 of his 15 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from long range. Chamberlain finished the contest with a team-high five assists and five steals to go with his 15 points in 36 minutes of play.

Neosho County wasn’t able to slow down the Saints’ high-powered offense in the first half, while Seward shot 55 percent from the field, 7-of-14 from three-point range and made 5-of-8 from the charity stripe. Seward County also won the rebounding battle (42-34) and caused 20 NCCC turnovers.

Williams led the Saints in scoring with 20 points while hitting 9-of-11 shots from the field. Seward County sophomore posts Bryson Hampton (12 points, 11 rebounds, 6-for-8 FT) and Darko Cohadarevic (13 points) added double figures in scoring, while freshman guard Bruno Mendes chipped in 13 points from the backcourt.

The Saints, who were originally scheduled to play at 5 p.m. on Saturday, have been rescheduled to play North Lake College at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Beaver Dome for their final game at the Pratt Thanksgiving Classic.
