LADY SAINTS USE TEAM EFFORT FOR 10 WINS AT ITA REGIONAL

Five Seward County Community College women’s tennis players posted victories and both doubles pairs collected wins as the Lady Saints recorded a 10-10 overall singles and doubles record last weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament in Overland Park, Kan. The ITA Regional advances all tournament champions to the ITA National Tournament later this fall. SCCC freshman Fabiola Wisnesky led the Lady Saints with three victories in tournament competition. SCCC finished tournament play without advancing any players to the ITA National Tournament. The Lady Saints are now 32-22 overall this fall in singles and doubles match play.

, lost her opening round match against

, but then bounced back into contention with victories against
Rend

, and two against players from the

Arkansas-Forth Smith
. She lost her final match of tourney play to Johnson County C.C.
With all of the tournament players in one bracket,
Seward
County
was forced to have sophomores Erica Herrera and Sanela Dejanovic battle against each other. Herrera won the head-to-head contest 8-1. Dejanovic picked up her singles victory against
Rend
Lake
College
in a shutout (8-0).
Freshman Valerie Stevens posted her victory against
Rend
Lake
College
, while freshman Alyssa Larson used three sets to defeat
Rend
Lake
7-6, 4-6, 10-6.
Herrera and Dejanovic collected a doubles win against
Rend
Lake
(6-0, 6-1). Larson and Stevens went 2-1 in doubles play with back-to-back victories against
Rend
Lake
competition.
The Lady Saints will compete in their first dual Oct. 5-6 against
Barton
County
Community College
on Friday and Saturday in
Great Bend

Kan.
