JELENA SIMIC DOMINATES IN THREE GAME VICTORY OVER LAMAR

Freshman Jelena Simic was nearly perfect in leading the
Seward
County
Community College
volleyball team to a three game match victory over
Lamar
Community College
on Wednesday night at the Green House. Simic, a 5-foot-9-inch outside hitter led the No. 19 ranked Lady Saints with a .882 hitting percentage and five service aces in their 30-6, 30-22, 30-20 victory over the Lady Runnin’ Lopes.
Seward
County
improves to 7-3 overall and remains 2-0 in the Jayhawk West Conference and 1-0 in the NJCAA D-I Region VI. Lamar’s loss drops them to 2-14 overall this season.
Simic got the match started by serving for SCCC and helping the Lady Saints to a 13-0 lead. Following two quick points by Lamar,

jumped out to a commanding 21-2 lead. The offensive attack of Seward County never stopped as the Lady Saints recorded a season-best game hitting percentage of .731 (19 kills, 0 errors, 26 attacks) in game-one.

, was the key player for SCCC with 15 kills, 0 errors and 17 attacks. Her .882 hitting percentage is the highest kill percentage for any SCCC player this season with more than five attack attempts.

Every player for the Lady Saints entered the match Monday evening, and four players recorded hitting percentages above .300. Freshman middle hitter Jenna Ginest posted a career-high eight kills, and freshman outside hitter Dan Yang led all players with 18 total kills.
Sophomore libero Katy Troutman collected a team-high 11 digs, giving her eight matches this season with double-figure totals. Sophomore setter Alex Droogsma recorded a team-high 26 assists and also chipped in six kills (.364 hitting percentage).
