volleyball team finished the Missouri State University- West Plains Tournament on Saturday with a pair of five-game match victories against Wallace State Community College- Hanceville (30-13, 29-31, 28-30, 30-26, 15-12) and
Lake
Land
College
(34-32, 28-30, 30-21, 25-30, 15-10). The Lady Saints finished the two-day tournament with a 3-1 record and improved to 28-12 overall this season. Three
Seward
County
players were named to the All-Tournament Team including, outside hitter Jelena Simic, outside hitter Dan Yang and setter Alex Droogsma.
Seward
County
is now 4-0 this season in five-game matches and 14-2 in matches played on a neutral court.

, a program who received a No. 17 NJCAA Pre-Season ranking, played

tough until the final points of the fifth game. The Lady Saints were led by Simic’s career-high 36 kills and 24 digs. Freshman Chelsea Myers added 34 assists and Droogsma tallied 29 assists, 18 digs, four kills, three blocks and one ace.
Yang posted 24 kills, four digs and four blocks, while freshman Mallori Proffitt collected a team-high six blocks with four kills and four digs.
The Lady Saints will finish the regular season with a Jayhawk West Conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at first-place
Barton
County
Community College
(32-7, 7-0). If
Seward
County
comes away with a victory on Wednesday night, they would earn a share of the Jayhawk West Conference title. A victory from No. 7 Barton County would give the Lady Cougars their first conference crown since 2003, when they later won the NJCAA National Championship.

is a perfect 9-0 playing at home this season.
