DROOGSMA & TROUTMAN EARN NJCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the third time this season,
Seward
County
Community College
sophomore volleyball players Alex Droogsma and Katy Troutman have been named the NJCAA Volleyball Setter and Libero of the Week, respectively. Droogsma previously was named national setter of the week on Oct. 10 and Oct. 3, while Troutman earned national libero of the week recognition on Oct. 10 and Sept. 19. The pair led the Lady Saints to three victories last week against
State
Fair
College
(3-1), Wallace State Community College- Hanceville (3-2) and
Lake
Land
College
(3-2). Overall this season, the
Seward
County
volleyball program has had seven NJCAA Player of the Week selections.
Droogsma, the team’s leaders in assists this season (968), led the Lady Saints with 39 assists, 14 digs and five aces against State Fair. She later collected another double/double with 38 assists, 18 digs, four kills and one ace against
Lake
Land
College
. Droogsma has now posted eight matches with at least 30 assists and she has tallied nine double/doubles this season.
Troutman recorded two matches last week with over 20 digs, including 26 digs against
State
Fair
College
and 29 digs verses
Wallace
State
. She is currently tied for 10th in the NJCAA in total digs (599).
